Just Fidgeting

A stress ball for your phone

Everything

The product

One morning I picked up my phone before I was even fully awake. Opened Instagram. Nothing new. Opened it again anyway. I noticed it wasn't about the content. It was about the movement. The fingers. The loop. And I kept giving into it, coming out the other side tired and a little disappointed in myself.

I couldn't find an app that gave my hands what they wanted without taking everything else. So I built one.

Just Fidgeting is that loop, minus the doom. A collection of tactile interactions: cards to swipe, sliders to drag, switches to flip. No feed. No likes. No notifications. Each fidget does something satisfying and leads absolutely nowhere. Eventually you notice. Oh. I'm just moving my fingers. Then you decide: keep going, or put it down.

The role

Design, illustration, and development. Everything from concept to App Store. The core challenge was designing something that feels like the apps people can't put down, without any of the hooks that make them harmful. Each fidget interaction had to be immediately satisfying and completely pointless, on purpose. The visual system of coloured squares, dark backgrounds, and gradient cards needed to feel premium without feeling like it was trying to keep you there.
